Pubnat3

is it possible that pubnat4 will be included with this one if it is 1.5-2 months ahead? Or will pubnat4 be at the one after.

I'm disappointed with this process, can't just be sitting around for this long waiting. Got no other choice.

I started applying in May of 2007. I'm still waiting. Most of you are on much faster tracks than I was for AT-SAT testing. The application closed the end of May 2007 for me, and I didn't test until January. That was before they switched to hiring for throughout the nation, and it was facility-specific announcements.

None of us from ########## trust anything we hear from the FAA's Careers line. They don't know what the Hell they're talking about -- ever. They told someone from our announcement that we'd have to wait weeks for our scores, and they received it the next day.

Also, we know that our panels are going to be in November, so the 1.5-2mo. quote is definitely incorrect.

Still no news. Pam at the career line said we should be getting it this week.

LOL LawnGnome sent a where-are-you email so I'm back.

I'm starting to wonder about the November vs. January panels thing. I heard good info about November, but now it seems like the same people are saying something different. I'm starting to wonder if it was pushed back or something.

I know that it's unpopular to say that the wait is frustrating, but I'm just going to say it. I know that it's government, we should be prepared to wait, etc etc etc. But still...this is getting pushed back so much now that I could conceivably see PUBNATs 3-5 being combined at the January panels. However, maybe if this happened in January it would still just be PUBNAT3 and the later PUBNATs are just in for an unreal waiting period.

But let's say that we end up seeing announcements considered together at panels. There would be more competition. More folks with new and high AT-SAT scores. Because of that possibility I'm liking the wait less and less.

Then again, there could be a bright side if this happens. I have an application in for each announcement. I wonder if that would lead to more places to select from at once. I would assume that we still get considered for each announcement and that they don't pool names from all three and then eliminate them so that they only consider you once at a panel. What I'm getting at, is:

Normally we get two geographic preferences, and one picked for us at panels. Then if we don't like that, we'd have to decline the announcement and wait to be considered for the next one. However, if PUBNATs 3, 4, and maybe 5 were to be combined for January, we would be getting geographic preferences for 2-6 places and then 1-3 offers after panels.

That could work in our favor because we could pick so many different places and avoid the odds of getting excluded because we picked a city that isn't hiring or something. Or we could pick several safe bets and one or two cool places we'd like to go.

For example, I think Hawaii would be cool, but HCF probably isn't hiring so normally I wouldn't risk putting it down. And ZBW is one place I think about, but I don't see many people getting picked up for there so I had been planning on putting another center in as a safer bet. But if they combined, I could put in ZNY, ZXX (whatever) for PUBNAT3, HCF and ZBW for PUBNAT4, etc. I'd get something.

What do you guys think about this possibility?

Did you just dream this up? Sounds like a fairytale....Hahaa I am just kidding. I think anything is a possibility especially its a new fiscal year and who knows there could be a new sheriff in town rolling with a new president.

I think it's unlikely that they will pool and combine applicants, but you never know...I bet my money that there will be a panel in Jan. for PUBNAT3, and Feb. for PUBNAT4, if the rumor is true.

Can we find the exact sources of who claimed November, and who claimed January, and rule out anyone from the Careers line, to see what we're left with? I don't care what Micki Griffin said, either. I'm talking big folks. HR reps, hub managers, etc. I want sources that do not include the contact info. on our announcement. They send out the same e-mail to everyone, and don't even read your question.

However, one thing I do know, is that by the time they get around to PUBNAT5+6, I'll be eligible to take the ATSAT again, and can raise my score to a 100.

I'm about ready to give up on speculating, given how unpredictable its all been. Ended up throwing down a decent amount of money to go up to Seattle in a week to visit the facility there -- being one of the places I'd like to end up, I thought I wouldn't have much time to do so before needing to turn in preferences.

Too bad they didn't come... could've saved some money, and I had to give up a kind of cool opportunity offered to my wife and I to have a small role in a movie they're filming in our town (long story). Although at least this way we can grow a healthy dislike for the FAA before even starting!

With all that said... the fiscal year is starting, and to me, it doesn't make much sense to wait a few months into it to get back to recruiting controllers when the need is so bad. But, then, many parts to this process haven't made much sense, so why stop now?
