NARFE: No Position on Proposed Health Care Reform Bills In House And Senate

In a legislative update memo released to its members on July 31, the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) said they have taken no position on the health care reform legislation currently being considered in the House and the Senate.

"That's because the status of the leading bills is extremely fluid and is subject to change", stated NARFE in the memo.

NARFE, an association with tens of thousands of members, represents both federal employees and retirees, advocating the safeguard and enhancement of their benefits.

While the NARFE memo didn't address specific language in the proposed bills, it did state: "Neither the House nor the Senate bills would open the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) to non-federal civilians nor would FEHBP be offered as the proposed public health care plan."
