Default Runway Widths

Where does ATC find the information about runway WIDTH and the types of aircraft that can land on runways of certain widths? I know length is often a calculation based on various factors, and I assume width is similar. However it seems to me width requirements would be more fixed.

Ex. What is the largest plane that can land on a 100 ft wide runway? Where can I find this info?

Thanks

brandonwoz, width is not such a factor as the composition of the runway itself. Most major rwys are 150-200 ft wide tops. The composition is rated for the "footprint" (number of wheels per gear) and weight of the A/C. You are correct, Length is also a major factor, Part 135/121 ops have certain requirements when landing so obviously regardless of width, the rwy has to be a certain length. Hope that helps! Not sure exactly where you can find the info for runway comp info but I'm sure some one will know on here! Also if some one can refine my explaination that would be great, its all I remember from one of my classes in college.

Airport and Facilities Directory has runway length/width information, along with load bearing capacity of the runway.

In emergencies, as long as the runway is long enough to get it down and mostly stopped before reaching the other end, the width and load bearing capacity (within reason I guess, there are some runways I wouldn't want to land a C172 on!) go right out the window.

I was just under the impression width would be extremely important for wheel base issues. I guess my questions comes into play when you are at an airport with large runways and a couple smaller runways, if you want to utilize the smaller runway for aircraft, there HAS to be some guide that demonstrates what type of aircraft can land and depart that runway, even if the guide is locally determined and factors in width, length, weight capacity etc.
