Got another thread landing clearances?
Posted: 08-27-2010, 11:50 PM Okay so I am curious to what the difference is and what you all say. When giving a landing clearance. Do you say when there is an aircraft that is not number one to the runway and is being sequenced by approach? Do you reissue the wake turb if it was already done by approach and do you say following, traffic type and position. Do you say traffic or following? And when you have pattern traffic, do you restate the sequence traffic type and position? This could prob be two or three threads by now.....
N1234, Tower, following a caravan 2 mile final runway 19L Cleared to land. N1234, Tower, traffic caravan 2 mile final runway 19L cleared to land. If he the aircraft says we have the traffic insight in he comes on to your frequency do you do this again? or just say CS and cleared to land? Thanks |

2. Yes, I reissue wake turbulence. 3. No, I do not say the traffic type and position. If approach has already done that, I just give the cautionary. 4. It depends on the situation. If I am doing the sequencing, I will say "N12345, #2, FOLLOW (not following) Cherokee, 3 mile final, runway xx, cleared to land." If I am NOT doing the sequencing, I simply state "N12345, Traffic, Cherokee, 3 mile final, runway xx, cleared to land." 5. I'm having difficulty with the last question. Perhaps you can include an example or something so I can better understand what you're talking about. |

If the A/C checks in and says "# 2 behind..." or "following the..." then you don't have to restate the traffic. By stating something like that they just confirmed that approach gave them the sequence.
