Re: stop-n-go with a helicopter
Posted: 06-29-2012, 02:41 PM Never seen a actual time written any where. For me, I let them stay as long as they want depending on what traffic I have. If I'm busy, a stop and go might turn into more of a touch and go. Or if there taking too long I would tell them "start your roll" or something.
It really depends on what you need. Just tell the pilot. They will work with you. **Or just pull rank** As far as a helicopter goes...basically the same thing for a stop and go for fixed wing. |

Re: stop-n-go with a helicopter
Posted: 06-29-2012, 05:14 PM I pretty much do the same. I understood a stop and go was supposed to be a momentary pause on the runway, I was just curious if there's an actual time limit in a reg somewhere that I havent heard, and if so, how it applied to helicopters.

Posted: 06-29-2012, 09:54 PM Shoot, I've had some, helicopter and fixed wing, get out of the aircraft and switch seats... try getting a hold of someone not in the aircraft! haha.

I do it all the time. As long as the pilot reads back and understands and the proper traffic (if necessary) is given you should be good to go.

Re: stop-n-go with a helicopter
Posted: 06-30-2012, 02:28 PM I just clear them to land and approve a request to remain on the runway.
I don't like utilizing the stop-and-go clearance for these situations, because they're technically a departing aircraft at touchdown. I just prefer the paper stop landing clearance, though I acknowledge either technique accomplishes basically the same thing. |
