Progressive Taxi Rule / Ranting allowed

How is it work out at everyones facility? I have the idea that the bigger facilities are doing okay. They have coded routes anyway right? At this facility it just sux.

lol... this is the biggest joke. My airfield is so simple we sound like idiots giving this new progressive taxi. The local guys who have been here for ages probably think we are being smartasses and talking to them like they are idiots.

I can see it working at larger airports but at smaller fields its just overkill.

this is exactly how I feel.... excessive verbage and frequency congestion on the readbacks.

not to mention added confusion of all things, haha. I know its meant to improve safety but I think it may be doing the complete opposite in some cases.

Another knee-jerk reaction in a weak attempt to CYA by the FAA. Just like "OE/OD prevention plans". Hey I thought that's what the .65 was meant to accomplish. What do I know after 13 years of sequencing and separation? The BS has trickled down to us at the FCT level and is probably worse for us in many cases since we have no effective means to fight the morons that anally extract these rules.

Progressive taxi rule is crap. If a pilot is stupid he's going to go the wrong way if you give him the route to taxi or not. We should get paid for excess verbiage!

The kicker is... if you give him a route say Alpha, Hotel, Yankee and he reads it back correct but goes via Alpha, Charlie, Yankee you'd think it was a PD but NO!!!!! They wont file it as such, they won't go after the pilot, they'll come after you for not seeing him turn onto Charlie instead of Hotel.

It's all about taking the responsiblity off the pilots and putting on the controller..of course, that mindset has been around since before I started ATC in 1987.

yep, pretty silly when there is only one taxiway :spin:

I find it's actually causing more confusion with our pilots. Whats even worse is our airport personnel who had been used to the "all surfaces" phrase, then we amended that and just gave them some minor restrictions and now we have this.
