Anyone have any documentation about a "2 minute rule" for position relief?

(Where the controller being relieved has to monitor the position for 2 minutes)

There's nothing about it in Appendix D.

Are you refering to 2-1-23 in the 7110?

"Transfer of Position Responsibility- ....shall be accomplished in accordance with the SOP and the appropriate facility directives each time operational responsibility for a position is transfered from one specialist to another."

Does this help?

Yeah what he said.

Each facility will have the procedures "2 mins" seems to be the norm.

we had it in our R&I stating 2 minutes. it's not a .65 item. it's a locally adapted time. either SOP or R&I item.

ZOA we did 3 minutes, L30 we do 2 minutes.

We aren't trusted here. Not only do we have to monitor 2 minutes, but at the end we have to record ourselves on a recorded line acknowledging the 2 minutes has expired with our initials. So dumb.

most either don't do it or they walk away and swing by a minute later to record their initials over the coordinator handset

We have a local SOP requiring "a minimum of 2 minutes"

Yeah haha, that's our exact phraseology too. We usually just say a bunch of garbage, then our initials...I mean really, does it matter what we say before the initials?
