Stuckmic.com sure has benefited me in many ways....I get a lot of quality information and insight....Every once in a blue moon I have a chance to share my experiences and help other people get through some of the hurdles the FAA dishes out...and I have greatly appreciated the entertainment...I check this site more than I check my email and bank accounts. Thanks SM!

StuckMic has helped me remain focused, entertained, and well informed through my application process. I've enjoyed meeting up with a few people from this website at the at-sat and PEPC, and it's been great getting to know everyone who I may or may not some day meet in person, or work with in the field!

Although I joined the site very late in the hiring process, I still find excellent information from Academy students and CPCs. It seems like there are new controllers joining in the discussions every day, never gets stale.

Thanks StuckMic! (now with no trans fats)

Who was there when I had just applied? StuckMic.

Who was there when something got botched up in the application process? StuckMic.

Who was there when I was bored out of my mind waiting to get picked up? StuckMic.

Who is there to entertain me after 5 hours of how to make a point out? StuckMic.

StuckMic - where everybody knows your name and where you're going/working.

OMG could you sound anymore like a hallmark card????....

But on a serious note, Stuckmic has been an absolutely wonderful website to someone like me who had no previous atc/aviation experience.

I have learned more from the members on this forum than I could have on my own. Just being able to speak with actual air traffic controllers and pilots and gain insight from their years of hard work, talent and training is something that is invaluable. I just spent the other night in the chatroom going over basic flight operations and phraseology with a pilot since I am applying to a remote pilot operator job.

On a side note...entertainment value is extremely high, to be able to meet with so many people with my zany sense of humor is unprecendented, I dont know anywhere else where I can learn and have so much fun at the same time.

I was able to find out a lot of useful information prior to leaving for the academy on stuckmic. I also was able to find 2 roommates and save a lot of money while i was in oklahoma. it is also nice having somewhere to vent about work and have people actually understand what you are going through.

+1.

Also, SM usually isn't filled with uptight snobs, so it's a much more comfortable environment to share information in. Everyone's more or less treated as an equal -- and people are way more apt to offer phone numbers, contact names, and other tidbits, even to "competition" here, because of that.

On the flip side, people will be upfront and honest with you, when you ask for your chances with a particular situation. I really appreciate the lack of sugar-coatings. Flowers and kittens and Jesus get no one anywhere in the FAA.

It's nice to meet people both where you're from, and where you may be going to; the process can seem so elusive at times, it's nice to know that once I get to my fac. (maybe in my OKC class, too), I'll know a few folks and the place won't be as foreign.

From an applicant's point of view, StuckMic is the best source of information on the process available, bar none. There's no other place you can find so much accurate, helpful and thorough information. You get to hear every facet of what you need to do to get where you want to go -- and what you'll be facing when you get there.

As the site and its disproportionately pre- and current-Academy userbase matures, I expect it to become more and more well-rounded. It's exciting to see a community of newbies form as they prepare to head out to be the next generation of controllers all over the country. Kind of like a graduating class, if you will. Anybody want to sign my yearbook?
