New Users...A Must Read
Posted: 06-18-2008, 07:27 PM Your Profile: You can now customize your profile pretty in depth. Go to User CP and look to the right of the screen where it says "Profile Editor," you can do just about anything now...add photo albums, current moods, interests, about me section, details...also all of your blog entries will now show up as links in your profile.
Your profile URL is now:www.stuckmic.com/username To see what I'm talking about, just go to "your profile" under the usercp and once you get there, look at the web address in your browser. This makes it easy for you to direct other people to this site and mainly your profile page. I have seen a few questions and noticed a few problems with some things. Please browse "Your control panel" and get familiar with it. From there you can adjust all sorts of settings to make your account unique to your taste. To get to "Your control panel" just click on your default icon after you sign in and you will see it to your left. Editing Profile and Avatar To edit your user title, as soon as you sign in, click on your current icon. From there on the left hand side of the screen you will notice a tab that says "edit your details," from there you can change the "Junior Member" to something else. Also, some users are using a profile picture, instead of the avatar. The profile picture is only viewable to friends when they click on your profile. If you want a picture to be seen every time you post follow these steps: as soon as you sign in, click on your current default icon. The very next screen you should see where to change your avatar. The avatar is what everyone else sees. A Little Info about Reputation Well...as we all probably saw on the old stuckmic, quite a few people were infamous, some...also very good sources of information. In these new parts, we have a thing called reputation. At the top corner of anyone's post, any user can add to someone's reputation by clicking on the "thumbs up, thumbs down" tab. Depending on if you approve or disapprove of the post, this will raise or lower the reputation of the other users. As your reputation gets higher or lower, you get certain labels that are viewable by all users. To see your reputation and who has been posting it, click on the "user cp" link at the top center of any page, that will take you right to your "Reputation" and who has been leaving what...if you leave negative feedback, though it may be personal, at least give a valid reason!! You can also add an infraction to someone by clicking on the yellow or red card tab. These infractions can be for spamming, inappropriate language or content, insulting another member too much, or other things. Please, if you do leave an infraction on another member, please have a good reason as we are moderating the posts as well. Last you can raise the "red flag" if in your opinion the post is that bad that a moderator needs to look at it immediately and have it possibly removed. Posting Messages To Other Users I just want to make sure everyone knows how to send messages to other users correctly. When you click on another member's profile picture, it takes you to the front page of their profile. Right beneath their name and user title you will see a tab that says "Send Message." From there you can either send a visitor message or a private message. Beware! When you send a visitor message, ANYONE that visits the persons profile can see the message. If you send a private message, that message shows up in the inbox of the user and is only viewable by them. The box immediately available for typing when you click on a persons profile is for visitor messages that can be seen by all. I just want to make sure everyone is on the same page and aware of what they are doing. You can also go to "Edit Options" beneath the Settings and Options tab on your control panel and enable or disable many features including visitor messaging. If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to ask. Adding a link in your thread and making it look neat! I found if you want to neaten up your thread a bit, type in the name of the link that you want to be seen in the thread such as: "Aviation Hearing Video", then highlight it and make it bold so it looks like this: Aviation Hearing Video...then re-highlight the entire bold phrase. Once you have that highlighted, click up on the panel where the fonts are and you will see a little globe...click that little globe and enter the url that you want the phrase to be directed to, then hit enter. Looks really clean. __________________ |
