Hey everyone!

My name is Kyle and I am a CTI student at Purdue University. I am in my fourth of five years here and am getting ready to graduate next year and get ready for, hopefully, a long career in ATC. I have been looking for a site like this for awhile and finally found you guys. Been looking to get some info from some of you already in the field and also just get some basic networking set up so I can bouce questions and ideas off of you guys and get to know some people before i get in. Can't wait to hear from you guys and getting into the ATC field. Boiler UP!!

Yea i already ready almost all of those. lol. (way to much free time at work!) I am mostly wondering about the CTI program after i graduate at this point in time. I feel good about getting a job when I graduate most of the time until i read some peoples post saying that we are all basically screwed! But at the same time I heard the acceptance rate from Purdue to the Academy is 99%. I guess I am just getting the soon-to-graduate worries. Love all the info on the site though. I was amazed there was so much good info. Well done guys, well done!

You're in a a relatively good position, since you're almost done with your program. Once you graduate, expect that you'll have to wait a while, even after you get your TOL, just because there are so many people ahead of you in the pipeline and the FAA's hiring process seems to be going in fits and starts.

One of the best things you can do at this point is start calling facilities where you might like to work. Ideally, go in person, meet the ATM and find out what he/she thinks their hiring needs will be. If your #1 facility and every other one in a state is packed with trainees, there's no use in geo-preffing that (once you get to that stage).

Yea I figured I would have to wait awhile before getting called. I heard it was around a year or so because the FAA is behind on their applications. I know a retired controller that used to work at Chicago Center that i was going to talk to and see if he could get me in touch with some people and possibly get some tours lined up. But yea i never really thought about contacting towers.

But at the same time I have just always had the mindset that I don't care where i get a job at first. I will gladly travel anywhere, but hopefully stay away from the east coast area. Don't really want to get stuck in the new york area right out of the academy.

Hey guys. I was looking to get into some more networking. So I was wondering if there is anyone that works in Indianapolis or in the in Cincinnati area? I would like to possibly get ahold of you and see about setting up a face to face contact.

I know one controller @ ZID but he is not a manager or anything. Hoping to go to Indy tower myself. So I'm always trying to find info on it but it doesnt seem like many people on here have any info on IND. Several do on ZID but not IND. If i find anything out though i will post it up.

You can try PMing HonuPineapple, who's a developmental at ZID. She hasn't been active on StuckMic for a year, but it might email something to her inbox.
