This sheds some light on the amount of traffic Kandahar is getting recently. Wow:

please give me as much information as possible without the details of the pay. please also include where i can go to GET the pay details, since the pay is a large part of the decision making process as to whether to go there or not!

I am a current air traffic controller for Midwest ATC at MTN. I was FAA for 25 years, and Air Force controller before that.

thanks,
Kevin

Parry Campbell (Midwest) called me several times telling me back in June that I was being hired but I never received offical paperwork. ITT called me and hired me to work at Salerno Afghanistan.

I retired from the FAA after 25 years. I'd like to be someplace busier, but for the money the work is easy.

Kevin,
Base pay depends on what facility that you are at, most companies offer up to a 70% uplift (hazard and hardship pay) which with your base pay will push you into the 6 digit salary range.

Most contracts are one year contacts which you can extend if you want and the company agrees (most will). As for return rights I don't know, but I imagine if you left on good terms and there is a vacancy then they would rehire you.

Our living quarters are brick and concrete, no windows for obivious reasons. As for things to do, other than work you can go to the gym, coffee shop, attend college classes, or go to the MWR facility and play pool or watch TV.

I am 26 and just about to finish up my first rating with the ANG. How hard is it to get a job with midwest being new in the air traffic world? What is the traffic like over there and how many ops are you doing? I have a ton of question but this will put me on a good track (fingers crossed). Thanks for the help!
