Hi to all!

Applied Pubnat8 and am awaiting contact for AT-SAT scheduling. I'm not sure if I'll ever get used to this waiting game, but I am very interested in this as a career.

I've always been the "go to" person at my office for handling last minute submittals, rush jobs and fixing mistakes. In other words, always been excellent at two things, performing under pressure and work advancement.

Which leads me to my question, In each job I have had, I have advanced very rapidly, and found myself at the last location, becoming somewhat complacent because there were no places to advance. I have switched departments 3 times throughout my career, and moved to manager in each before moving on.

Are there many advancement options and possibilities in ATC? I am very interested in the job but do not want to attempt a career in a field in which there is limited change and mobility. I love stress, challenges and achievement.

Seeing as though the job requirements have me very interested, and knowing my other wants, is this something I should proceed with?

any way this sounds perfect for you. your advancement in this field depends on how well and fast you grasp the info being thrown at you. i think you are looking for a challenge and seeing that there are different level facilities and positions in ATC, i think you have fount your mt everest.

if you don't love ATC then you will go nowhere---fast, there is a very HIGH failure rate in this business, usually people who are looking ahead and the job at hand....this is a comraderie business where each person depends on the other when the shit hits the fan....no comraderie, no help and out the door you go, but good luck anyhow, just don't mention your management ideals...

thanks for the heads up..Doesn't have to be a managerial spot, but possibilities of different challenges throughout the course of the career. Some of the main reasons I have moved as much as I have has been the ability to improve efficiency and teamwork.

I'm not sure why I always function so well under stress and enjoy higher pressure situations, as many have told me, I am just wired strange that way. I've always been one to feel nervous or stressed after an event, not before or during.

if you get bored with controlling, there are more opportunities within the FAA than you could ever dream of.
