hello everyone!

i joined the site not long ago but, obviously, have sat back and not said much. i live a few minutes outside of Athens, GA.

i previously worked in radio in Athens but was laid off recently like many others. a guy i used to work with in retail is an air traffic controller in Hawaii and after getting some information from him i decided to pursue the job. it sounds like something i'd enjoy doing.

i was going to try OTS but recently i've had a change of heart and i think i'm gonna go with Middle Georgia College and hope it works out.

now that i've sufficiently bored anyone that has made it this far...i'll end it here.

Welcome to the site. MGC seems to have a good setup. I don't know anyone that went there as a student, but I do know a few controllers that went there to take a tour and to inquire about employment. Do you know which option you want to get into? Good luck!

i assume you're referring to either en route or terminal? if so, i'm not really sure yet. anyone care to relay any advice either way?

hmmm... Terminal, do you like to see plains... Enroute, do you like dark cold rooms with hundreds of co workers... sorry I can only give you the tower side of things and the bit of RADAR exper. I do have.. Tower is more of split second choices compared to Radar... in the tower you have about 2-5 seconds to correct a problem and radar you have 5-15 seconds to correct a problem... this does not make the tower harder, because even though you have a few more seconds to make a choice you have more aircraft so they both have there pros and cons. To me I enjoy Tower because I can actually see aircraft land and depart and don't have as much strict rules as radar, but with radar you are more in control... my 2 pennies
