Hows it going.
Posted: 10-12-2009, 08:35 PM I am trying to be an air traffic controller, and for my business writing class i need to interview one. If you could help me by answering the questions that would be amazing, thanks.
1) What kind of writing do you do? 2) How many email messages do you do write in one day? 3) How long does it take you to compose a routine one page memo, and do your revise it? 4) Do you work with others to compose a document? 5) Have your writing methods and skills changed since you left school? 6) Do you have a preferred method of proofreading? thanks alot! |

Re: Hows it going.
Posted: 10-13-2009, 12:29 AM So, wait, how does business writing relate to ATC? You should be asking about stripmarking skills or something...
Anyway, here's my answers. Keep in mind I'm a reporter/CFI soon to be ATC... 1) News stories, feature stories, that kind of a thing. 2) 10-20 3) 15-20 minutes. Usually write it, then do a writethru and call it good. 4) Not usually 5) Yes. I'm much faster and better at organizing in my head before I start writing so I don't have to spend time editing/revising/rewriting. 6) On the first pass, read for overall content and organization -- big picture. Second pass, make changes to style, spelling, grammar, etc. Third pass, make sure it's clean copy. 7) someone else needs to do a better job than me and get this thread back onto an ATC topic. |
