well i do think its silly for the FAA to have a program for military people that actually have experience working traffic and not just saying on glidepath or being a strip runner.

while supporting the troops is important, the goal is quality CPC(FPL)s. A big leg up is working traffic comparable to what the FAA does... hence the application.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Running a GCA approach is a little more involved than what is stated. If in fact you were referring to somebody running a PAR final. However, I understand that translates in to absolutely nothing within the FAA. So I believe that GCA should not be qualifying experience. And yes there are alot of BS military controllers that had their courtesy ratings due to their rank or position. So weed out all the BS.

Some GCA facilities get delegated more duties than vectoring for a PAR final. Some actually get delegated some approach control functions.

Oh yeah and the final controller may only get to run 1 or so aircraft at a time. What about the person vectoring the aircraft for the approaches! Typically done by the GCA...

correct me if im wrong (and im not trying to be asshole-ish) but are there gca's that have more than 3 useable altitudes? ive seen about 7 of them and all of them are like sfc-4000 with an mva of 2000 or something similar (2 useable altitudes, like i said), and airspace wise its enough to run a tight radar pattern and nothing else.
