Do I have to be retired to apply for a RMC or VRA position
Posted: 02-16-2010, 11:03 AM

I'm transfering to an Air National Guard ATCS in order to get the required experience/certifications to get an ATC position. Am I required to retire from the Air National Guard in order to be considered for the positions? I will still have 8 more years before I can retire and I don't really want to wait forever to get a job.

You do not have to retire to be a VRA applicant.

I really dont know much about RMC but I want to say that you do have to be retired for that one. Im not positive tho.

Yea you have to retire from the service to be able to apply for RMC(Retired Military Controller). To apply for VRA you have to work 52 consecutive weeks or more as an ATCer in the service.

As a VRA applicant you must get a TOL (tentative offer letter) by age 31.

I'll do it for mtlatc, "what he said too."
