VRA Questionnaire/Basic Qualifications
Posted: 03-06-2010, 12:43 PM For those of you out there that made it to the VRA referral list, congrats! Would you mind helping a fellow vet by telling me how you answered the following question? (VRA Questionnaire, Basic Qualifications, #2)
2. Were you originally appointed as a civilian (FAA/DoD) Air Traffic Controller Specialist in a terminal or center prior to age 31? I'm an active duty AF controller with 3 CTO's and extensive radar experience stateside and abroad. I've never been appointed as a civilian ATCS and I'm under 31. I answered "No." Would this have disqualified me from making a referral list? I question this because my CTO application made it to a referral list. I answered the questions identically for the CTO and VRA quesitonnaires. I've read countless post of VRA, CTO and CTI applicants making referral list for the states I selected for my VRA... Any thought? |

Re: VRA Questionnaire/Basic Qualifications
Posted: 03-06-2010, 04:18 PM You say you are still active duty so, you probably did not make it because of the date of separation you put down on your VRA application. They will only put you on the list if you separate within a certain time frame from the date of the panel. I am not sure if anyone knows exactly how far out your DOS can be but that could be the cause.

I just didn't want this question to be the only hang up on my application. Heard the horror stories of vets who apply and apply but answered a question incorrectly which made them ineligible. |

I'm trying to make sure I didn't miss some "minor" detail on my application/questionnaire. Like everyone else, I'm just as confused on the referral/hiring process. |

It's nice to have experience in both, but I had to make one too many sacrifices for it. Hopefully it'll pay off with a job. That way I can truly thank the Big Ol Blue!

Can't complain too much though...I know I've got a little bit to go and I'm happy with where I was referred too. |
