Navy Denying Terminal Leave
Posted: 07-09-2009, 12:10 PM Well once again I'm pissed and can't wait to get out of this navy....I have 61.5 days left in the books for Terminal. I routed my chit to take 60days and they said I can only have 30days. Does anyone know If I can fight this because there was another guy that took 55 days like 3 months ago and now they are tryin to say I can't take that many. I haven't done anything wrong but get qualified and do my job. There reason is because they didn't get enough time out of me as an FWS(CPC). I am thinking about going to special captains mass because i'm so pissed..They have the manning to run the facility so why can I NOT go..Help me someone..

Re: Navy Denying Terminal Leave
Posted: 07-09-2009, 01:50 PM No real help from me here but that does suck. I didn't realize the leave rules were different in the Navy, AF can have up to 90 days of terminal.. I'm skimping my own terminal to meet the 52 weeks rule, since I will have been facility rated for exactly 52 weeks and 2 days by the time my terminal starts (cross-trainee). I'll be taking 42 days, and have an extra 25 that I need to either burn or sell back.
Good luck in whatever happens, I know that terminal is approved by the squadron commander here, I would try elevating it up the chain if I were you. |

Re: Navy Denying Terminal Leave
Posted: 07-09-2009, 02:11 PM I had 30 days denied when I left the AF also. It was our commanders discretion and due to our staffing I only got half of what I had requested. Not sure if you can do much. I always figured it was they're way of saying F you as I left the AF...

Re: Navy Denying Terminal Leave
Posted: 07-09-2009, 04:36 PM When I got of the Navy in 06 I had like 3 months of leave saved up for terminal and it was all denied....they have every right to keep you as long as they need you. (manning, training, etc) All you can do is ask ahead of time what is the max amount of days you will let me take for terminal leave? I only got 15 days of terminal and the rest was given to me as a paychecks for the next few months. It really sucked but I didnt mind getting money while I was at home going to school. If your trying to land a job with the FAA I suggest you start coordinating accordingly.

Re: Navy Denying Terminal Leave
Posted: 07-09-2009, 07:31 PM it really depends on the CO i'm in the same boat here at NTU...i got 54.5 days and still 7 months to go.....according to our skippers policy if you are seperating you can only have 30 days term leave...however if you are RETIRING you can have 90...sounds like BS to me but that's his policy so starting this october i'm taking a couple weeks a month or more to get my balance down....sucks but that's how they work it.
