DoD to FAA transfers...
Posted: 09-21-2009, 07:49 PM

O.K. I have read most of the threads stating on how the school house is so backed up that people can't get school dates. In other cases the security clearances are being delayed.

DoD controllers already have a Secret Clearance and have the experience to step into a facility and start training, some of us have even already attended the academy. Have any of you heard any news on the ATO expediting the process for DOD controllers that decide to transfer over after January 1st?

I mean this would only make sense and save the FAA money.

Are there any other DoD controllers on this forum that are thinking about transfering over?

Thanks to all...

Im a DOD controller and Im transferring to the FAA next month. You just need to go to the equip website when they give you the link and all your information is already saved on it. Very easy! I think it took a month for all my stuff to clear. It was a very easy transition compared to all the horror stuff your hearing on this website. Some of the people here have had the worst luck.

I'll find out in the morning when i call my HR rep. I've been trying to find out for a week now. I hope i do. Im a GS11-3 and it would be awesome to keep my pay. If anything i'll take the pay cut while at school and get paid my normal salary afterword. With the per diem and GI benefits i'll come out breaking even if not making more anyways so Im not really worried about that. I'll let you guys know as soon as I get ahold of her.

I also made the switch from DoD to FAA over a year ago. And I also figured my GI Bill money into my monthly budget. Do not count on it. It will takes months to begin and will never arrive at a regular scheduled time.

I'm guessing you had to apply under the VRA announcement or did you have to apply under any announcement at all? How long ago did you start the process and how did they select what facility you were going to? Thanks for all the info... Best of luck.
