Got MY email ATSAT!!

Hey got my email this afternoon to take the ATSAT in Peachtree, GA ... Since I'm VRA with a CTO and prior experience should I even go? What do you guys think I should do? I'm probably gonna get picked up prior to this PUBNAT8 even considering me! I just want in quickly! some advice please.

My two cents is don't close an open door. Take the thing, and you'll be a step ahead, you don't and who knows what may happen. Don't let a door kick you in the ass. YOu may still get picked up VRA or CTO at a later date!

Yeah, go ahead and take the thing. It won't dock you or send you to the back of the line if you're already VRA. The FAA works in mysterious ways. VRA will usually get you in faster than OTS, but taking the test gives you that second option and you can pursue both at the same time and see which gets you the TOL first. Good luck.

Ok I can control fixed wing and helos with my eyes closed ... I'm not gonna toot my own horn but I'm fuckin damn good at it ... I don't feel like I'm prepared to take a test of senarios and concepts to see if I have the capability to control ... Now say I go and don't do so hot, will that affect my chances at another announcement now that my name would be associated with a poor score on the ATSAT?

Hmmm I don't think Imma waste my time and money to head out there ... I called and ACD said the PUBNAT8 Panel is no time soon and the wait would take forever .. Why would I go if I could possibly get picked up for the VRA or CTO announcement with a $20,000 bonus? then I would have wasted a trip for no reason ... So whoever else applied for PUBNAT8 good luck you have one less competitor in the pool see ya at the facility!

highest washout rate comes from previous military controllers.. You should really check what you think you know at the door or it could seriously be a detriment to your success there and at your facility. ojti's eat people with your demeanor for breakfast..

Not to say that people should walk into their facilities with an attitude and unwillingness to learn. That holds true of any person with any amount of experience. If your a dick your going to have a rough time.

came from the instructors at the academy.. Matters not to me im in and working on d3. just trying to give advise not to come in thinking you can do this with "your eyes closed".

So your answer is... "no I don't have any real facts to back this up with" Glad where on the same page. I've heard different things from different people within the FAA on what class of applicants are desired and who has the highest washout and blah blah blah. Know what they all have in common? They are all conjecture and speculation. If the data exists it's not being published anywhere we have access to.

The core advice you where trying to give was good advice for anyone of any experience level, whether they come from another FAA facility, the military or even off the street. The unsubstantiated swipe at military controllers wasn't really needed.

Just a little advice to you on how not to alienate your target audience.
