What happens after the referral list?

So a bunch of us just made the referral lists (Congratulations to us all). So whats next? What is the time frame for the next step?

After the panels meet, I think is the 26th or 28th Oct. If selected for a facility, HR will send you an email informing you that you are being further considered for an ATC position. Hopefully they will also give you the name of the facility you are being considered for. Once you reply to the email then you start the process of either attending a PEPC for all the pre-screenings or to do it the traditional route. Once all that is complete then you will get a date to start the academy.

Which leads me to the next question, If I already attended the academy do I have to attend again? I am very interested to know how all this is going to pan out.

no doubt i went to the academy and then transfered to dod i got a offer a while ago and they said i wouldve had to attend the same academy i went to for tower because the only way to get out of it is to get a waiver which is impossible becausv its got to go up to the administrator then back down. i turned it down due to circumstancvs but this next offer is hopefully a tracon, if im going back to okc its going to be for a new class!

Got ya... But under the new contract, it also states that we VRA's will attend the academy "if required". Correct me if I am wrong. I'm really not that concern if I attend or not, but I know that if I am not required to attend then I can get to the facility they offer me quicker since I'm already in the DOD. It would be a smoother transition... I am all up for getting there quicker, DoD is not really what i thought it would be. I have done the Round Robin already military, contract tower, faa, contract again, DoD. And FAA is where I want to be, no doubt in my mind. Hopefully I go back to TRACON also. Ttul...

I realize we still have interviews, paperwork, processing, yada yada, but I though it was all kinda just formalities, and we all but have a job 8 months to a year from now. We have to get "selected" by our facilities now?

not true. The FAA takes a pool of applicants that applied to a state and then the reps select who they want. The pool is much larger than the slots available. Some people get referred 3-4 times, or even more, before they get hired.

Damn, I had no idea. I haven't ever heard of somebody that wasn't hired after they got refered. Damn, that sucks.
