Selection Priority Program
Posted: 10-20-2009, 10:08 AM

I just realized I put yes on both apps. I thought it was asking something about the 5/10 pt veteran stuff. Crap. I wonder if that messed with my chances once they realized I wasn't eligible? Anyone else ever done that?

Crap. Just spoke with the guy who denyed my app.... he said it was because my EOAS was too far away (April) He said they give you a 30 day grace period, but anything after that, they wont pull your app. Too bad even if I got picked up now, I still wouldn't go to school until after I was out. And too bad I had a hiring manager waiting for my app in OKC. On to the next panel.....

Note to everyone, change your EOAS dates to the earliest you can or might possibly get out.

That's what they told my husband, too. So he waited until he was close to his EAS, and then we found out on here people who applied 6 months before! I don't know which is right!

I'm betting those people who applied that early didn't really put their EAOS date, which is what I wish I knew 2 weeks ago...

Thanks for the tip I guess.. maybe a little too late, but I changed my date from 23 Jan to 14 Dec when I start terminal.

You said you spoke to someone who denied your app.. what do you mean? Did you make a referral list? What states did you put down?

No, I spoke with the person who went through the apps, and sent out the referrals. He specifically remembered denying me a referral because me EAOS was too far away. He said he denied all apps who had longer than about 30 days from EAOS (apparently that is their policy). My states were ID and CA, and if I would have gotten a referral, I would have gotten a job at ID, but my app wont be in OKC to pick from. The people who send out the referrals are different than those who pick your facility.

You "Can" get both states on any announcement but there has to be a need for controllers in that state ... yea CTO announcement is what I got referred on .. The VRA I applied back in June and NOW they tell me about being too far out
