Applying too early?
Posted: 11-28-2009, 12:27 AM It's been a while since it's been discussed, but what's the thought on applying "too early?"
For those of us who have over a year left of enlistment and want to get a jump on the waiting game, would it put us on some sort of black list or hurt our chances of being offered a job if we apply now? What's the worst that can happen...be referred, interviewed and offered a class date after separation...or be thrown in some sort of ugly, never ending holding pattern? |

Re: Applying too early?
Posted: 11-28-2009, 05:39 AM Someone posted a while ago they got passed up because their date of separation.... even though the hiring process takes forever.
I'd say shoot for the 8-6mnths.... 12 does seem WAY too early... I mean hell, I had to wait a while cause the academy backlog/new fiscal yr/MMPI backlog, and I went from Application to Academy in 9 months. |

Re: Applying too early?
Posted: 11-28-2009, 10:33 AM On the October hires, people were being passed up because they made more than 30 days left until their day of separation. I would also say about 6 months out. But at the end o the day it's all on you. Being VRA, you'll get picked up.

Re: Applying too early?
Posted: 11-29-2009, 06:21 PM From everything I have read, applying early or even applying when not qualified to apply does not affect future applications. If you are not qualified the application will just be kicked out of the system at some point. An exception to this would be applying to a CTI application which requires a code to access. From what the CTI program director has said using the code or giving the code to non-CTI graduates is becoming a problem and may have employment and legal consequences.
