VRA application while still in the military
Posted: 12-02-2009, 11:04 AM

I just received an email for Declaration for federal employment. This is after the interview, something I need to fill out to receive my TOL. Well, I am still active duty until April, but didn't know what to put down for service dates. On my app I initially put April, but they told me I wouldn't be chosen, so I switched it to OCT 09, and got selected. For those of you who applied while active, what did you put? What did you put for which discharge you received? TIA!

People probably did not lie that far ahead, so I guess you have an issue

WTF?? How did you even get that far on active duty still? I must have missed something. Which referral round did you get snatched up from?

nevermind, talked to the guy who sent the email, he said to put my real EAOS and it wasn't a big deal, but was just for my background check. I was this past panel in OCT, and I would suggest applying before you get out, so you dont become homeless and jobless for a long period of time...

I'm all for "bending" the truth, like putting down your terminal date instead of DOS, but you straight up lied and put oct just so they'd pick you?

I'm glad you didn't put down my states and take my spot since I'm done in 2 weeks.

You have anything lined up in the meantime? I start teminal leave Dec 24 and I have to admit I'm a little nervous getting out without an official guarantee that I'm hired. I just turned 29 so I guess that does not help matters.

Nope.. Unemployment here. Got a sugar momma starting work with a CPA firm though, and no kids with savings. Not terribly worried about the meantime, just need to hear from them before I go nuts. I'm also turning 29 this month, so 2 years is my countdown clock...

RadarContact- I'm sorry that you didn't get picked up, but no need to take it out one me. I got the idea of applying so early from this website ( ie the sticky that gives info on VRA to FAA... so no need to act like I applied earlier than any other smart person out there.) Not that I need to justify myself, but just so you have the whole picture, I am eligible for an early out, as long as I have a school date. So I put the earliest possible I could get out, which was OCT, all though I'm sure I wont even get a school date until well after April...

Wow, this is some bullshit. I applied in June, got out in the beginning of Oct, and got passed over after being referred. Maybe I should have lied also and got picked up on the previous referral round when they were actually still hiring people.
