Swap Facilities?
Posted: 12-19-2009, 02:32 PM

OK.. this might sound crazy but I need to find someone that would be willing to swap facilities with me..

If I don't find someone then my only other option is to reapply and I am just trying every other angle before taking that route.

My Facility is DAB (Daytona Beach, Florida) which is a level 9 terminal and I need to go to Norfolk International They are sending me to OKC in April so anyone who is willing to swap with me would be going sometime in April.

I realize this is a long shot, just thought I'd give it a try.. Thanks All!!

Why can't you start the academy and try to get re-assigned there? Have you talked to HR about this? You really don't wanna pass up the FAA right now!!!

OK, I see now. I do know for a fact, once you get to the academy you can petetion/lobby with the right people to get redirected. It doesn't always work, but it's possible.
My advice would be take Daytona or start calling Norfolk International and see what they can do...even visit them and plead your case.

"Your only other option is to reapply"

have you read the posts that the ones without tol have written. seriously consider that before you exhaust all your other options... like option #1 which is to do what you accepted to do.

Just read your other thread about the same subject. Looks like you are Navy so I'm gonna help you out.

You can ERR at any time. Its an employee reassignment request. 3 levels up from the facility that you are working at and you can find the rest on the net. Better yet here you go... straight from the crimson book article 42. Reason I say 3 levels up is that is "unofficial information" but HR will turn you down if you try to say ERR from an 8 to a 12.
Employees desiring consideration for placement to a specific bargaining unit position at a specific facility may make voluntary application for transfers to facilities of the same, lower, or higher level by submitting the appropriate forms as outlined in Agency directives, to the Human Resource Management Division having jurisdiction over the position(s). The type of position applied for and specific location must be stated.

The employee shall not normally be eligible to receive any permanent change of station (PCS) benefits unless the selection was made in conjunction with a vacancy announcement where PCS benefits were authorized. In that case the individual requesting voluntary transfer shall be entitled to the same benefits as advertised on the vacancy announcement.

Employees shall submit the following forms to the appropriate Human Resource Management Division:

cover letter stating: "Filed in accordance with Employee Requested Reassignment for ________ position at (name of facility)";
FAA Form 3330-42, Request for Consideration and Acknowledgment;
FAA Form 3330-43-1, Rating of Air Traffic Experience for AT Transfer Program;
OF-612 or a resume; and
most recent performance appraisal.
Word of advise on ERR's. It's not going to look good no matter what the circumstance while you are in training. That can be left for another discussion.

Bidding out once you are a CPC... all you have to do is meet the qualifications listed on the bid itself. As of right now, all the bids out just require you to be a CPC with no time requirements.

If you want to be in the FAA then get in. Write out your goals and what's important to you and go from there. Is being close to your significant other more important? Is the job equally as important? Your call but one thing is for sure... there are tons of people waiting to get in and there is no guarantee you will get what you want even if they call your # again at a later date.

My fiance is graduating Law school May of 2011 and i turned down amarillo because there aren't a lot of opportunities for her there. Its been almost a year and i haven't heard anything new from the FAA. Now I'm kicking myself for it. If this job is what you want its easier to move from within than trying to get another way in. The HR lady said you don't know when or IF you will get another offer. And I turned it down anyway. It is easily the biggest mistake of my life.

Come to think of it, I've never seen anyone say "Yeah I declined my first offer, then they offered me where I wanted and life's perfect."
