Normally VRA's wouldnt get passed up unless the states you requested were really full. It will happen, it might just take a while. Hiring is really backed up as some people have had TOLs for over a year.

Vet preference is different from VRA, though. VRA you've actually got experience, so you're much more valuable as a hire. Vets are just given an edge over every other schlub off the street. There's no reason to think a vet without controlling experience would be any more successful than a non-vet.

Other than the fact that they've shown the ability to withstand 4 years of BS management and received an honorable discharge. That has to count for something.

agree 100%.... but as a paractical matter a VET has already worked for the federal government (comes in with 6 hours leave per pay period etc etc) and if veterans preference means anything, they should almost always be picked over a non vet OTS, id think. in a perfect world at least. we have that...dont we?

I've gotten passed up the past 2 panels (April & October). Hoping it's just that NC is full.

I agree with this. If a vet without experience feels that they are more capable than a non-vet they may be unpleasantly suprised.

It might not make them a better controller, but they are still suppose to be hired first.
