New Guy, Terminal, No Atc Experience

    Hello all,

Just viewed a thread where a few people provided tips, expectations, and other valuable information for someone going Enroute with no prior ATC experience.

Can anyone shed any light for someone going Terminal? Would love to hear from others with no prior experience.

Aside from the forget everything you THINK you know leaving the academy and listen to your trainers.... best piece of advice I have is trust your gut.... something doesn't feel right? Don't think something is gonna work? have that feeling like you are forgetting something? think about it. chances are you are right. A lot of that will come with experience but be aware of it. Know your separation rules (runway, wake, etc.) without having to think about it. Don't be afraid to send guys around, just don't make a habit of it. If its not gonna work, its not gonna work, don't try and force things. And most importantly save the cowboy shit for when you are checked out and have a bit of knowledge and experience, and know who you are working with when you choose to do so.
