    I went to Mt Sac. What's a 7110.65?

    No seriously, what is it?

Okay okay, so I know what it is, but I think I pulled it out of my backpack for like one day of class, and that was so our prof. could show us how cool he was that he worked oceanic and how he had different rules. Some other classes used it, we mostly used the basic FAA powerpoints. It'll be two years out of school before I'm at OKC, but it will probably be good, I'll be able to forget all the wrong stuff I learned!

    Re: CTI Basics Refresher

Sadly I believe this is true for a lot of CTI schools but it really doesn't matter since the FAA trains to succeed now anyway. Like I said a few people at the academy I thought had 0 % shot passed and there have been a few people at my facility even that I thought would be a long shot and they have made it through and have been CPC for a while.

It is not hard to learn how to do this job, but there are people who can't visualize anything. We have D side trainees with 100 hours and it is still a 5 minute conversation on how to get an aircraft a higher altitude(i.e. who owns what airspace, etc.) Then you have ZID who for some reason has different high altitude stratums and then the trainee goes brain dead and blood starts pouring out of their ears.

Fyi --- vaughns capstone course is a joke imo ... Biggest waste of time ever...if i wanted to read through powerpoints, i could have stayed in denver and not flown half way across the country...

Thats good to know. I think I'm a pretty smart guy and I learn fast, but I'm scared to death of failing out of the academy. I mean, I know how many people say its easy and everything, but then you see several people fail out of almost every class. I just try to remind myself of the kind of people I went to school with - if only 10% are failing, I have no problem, because 50% of the CTI students should not be in this career anyway.

But still... it's back there in the back of my mind...

Yeah, I have been thinking the same thing. I was going to stay by myself at OKC but then decided on Kim's Place because I figured it would be good for me to have easy access to study groups, etc...

I wonder if the washout rate would be lower if the majority of CTI programs were located at better schools that could be more selective. I mean, let's face it, I think it is safe to say that you have academically hit rock bottom if you get a rejection letter from your local community college.

So I've read pretty much all the forums I could on en route training at the academy and I'm still not clear on two things. 1) is there a basics test on day one for cti grads? 2) how long is en route training for cti grads?

    Re: CTI Basics Refresher

When I was there 3 years ago, you got the basics test but it was just for their informational purposes. They wanted a check up on what you already knew. They also said it was just for informational purposes and they couldn't give out scores, etc. However almost every instructor will thell you your score if you want to know and I am sure the instructor use the information to figure who knows their stuff prior to starting the class.

Enroute is approx. 3 months at the academy. First day for me was 9/20 and last day was 12/15 or something.

For me, it gave your score automatically so you didn't need to ask anyone.
