They are pushing towards that yes. One of the PV evaluators came into our class to talk about it and he said we are one of the last classes that have the pass/pass non-radar. They almost changed it on us but for whatever reason didn't. I'm glad. lol

They are working on the cirriculum for a pass/fail non radar. They've tested it with some classes I guess, but they didn't fair very well with it!

Pass/Fail would be no fun. We are doing non radar stuff at OU using the same map and I must admit I cannot wait till I get in front of a scope. Plus non radar is becoming closer and closer to obsolete anyways.

Non radar is still pass/pass. I don't think they will ever make it a pass/fail. I was told by most instructors that if you bring over CPCs from centers who don't use it they would most likely do just as bad as most students do.

they would do just as bad and maybe worse. we have zero non radar training its kind of scary. ive always said though of the sh*t hits the fan and we lose radar you cant BLAME or fault the front line young CPCs for not knowing what to do. its way above their paygrade and heads would roll. what if 2 or 3 Artccs ever lost radar and we couldnt just give the airspace up to the adjacent center

No crap dude. Have you seen the new ATC-0 plans. They are actually going to let aircraft going to like the big 30 airports flew through these centers with no radar and it will be run like oceanic airspace. ON a certain airway at a certain altitude.

Let me know how that one turns out, I plan on being sick that day.

Hey, I saw that somebody has the the maps and what not, but I just finished up my CTI this past month and the last class I took was En route with the Memphis 66 Airspace( the same one you will need), I have all the maps and LOA for surrounding sectors, as well as a handbook for all radar and non radar strip marking. If you want it let me know.

Okay... I just finished non-radar on Thursday. Bottom line, It's not hard. They teach you everything you need to know, when you need to know it. There is no point in getting the maps and problems. You need to know the info for a few weeks then you are done with it. Just go, do the course, and roll to Radar. It is still pass/pass... Each non-radar eval is worth 7%, there are 2 of them. Your grade still rolls into your final grade, so the better you do, the easier your mind will be on the final day of Radar evals...

Re: Enroute Map and Non-Radar Problems

the map is nice to know. you'll use the SAME map for radar as you do non-radar. so it's not a data dump once your out of non-radar. just sayin.

You'll use some other non-radar stuff too. Phraseology, separation concepts... other things. Radar builds on it. If you did well in non-radar, radar's easier.

You can do extraordinarily well on your non-radar evals and draw your map once a week and your mind still will not be at ease the week of your evals. Trust me
