    Per Diem Reimbursement

I've read that if you choose the reimbursement route for per diem, you don't get your first per diem check until 2 weeks after first class date. However, my question is, is that per diem check amount for 2 weeks or for 1 month? I assume 2 weeks but just verifying. ($1,338 vs $2,868)

You're never getting forward-paid per diem. It'll be a to-date repayment of what they owe you. And yes, there is a delay, even after the 2 weeks, the money takes a few days to transfer over.

    Re: Per Diem Reimbursement

That's what I thought. Also, assuming you don't do the reimbursement and your housing is $81/day, that leaves $14.60/day for meals, is that amount left on the FAA CC to use or how does that work? Would I be forfeiting the extra $14.60/day by paying housing via the FAA CC vs reimbursement?

If you use the FAA credit you don't keep anything that you didn't spend. They simply cover the cost and that's it.

you dont get a credit card they simply pay for the entire amount of housing, the only extra you get is the Meals and incidental per diem.

Ok, so how do you get the extra if you don't go the reimbursement route? Is the extra direct deposited or what? Some are saying you don't get the extra if you don't take the reimbursement route.

    Re: Per Diem Reimbursement

If you want to pay for it all out of pocket and then turn in receipts and vouchers like once a month or something you will get reimbursed I believe via your paycheck (so direct deposited).

If you just charge it to the FAA you will only get reimbursed for meals and incidentals via direct deposit.

    Re: Per Diem Reimbursement

If you stay at a place like kims and pay out of pocket you will pay $39 a day, when you go to turn in your receipts they will reimburse you for the full lodging allowance of 58.20 plus your M&I. If you choose to let the FAA pay for your lodging you will only get the $37 and change a day. You will get the reimbursements direct deposited to your bank but not through your regular paycheck

Right, I get that, the reimbursement route. However, this is a family (whole house) rate of $81/day. So wondering if the remaining $14.60/day (M&I) left over (after the $81/day) is direct deposited or do you forfeit that by having FAA pay the housing $81/day directly?

Basically the FAA will only repay you for the 58.20 a day anything above that is your responsibility, you will always get the 37.40 for M&I. If you want the specifics of how Kim will bill you since you are going above the allotted amount, I recommend you ask her

You only need receipts for lodging, at least for initial classes. They don't need McDonalds and Chic-fil-a receipts.
