    Training Question

If you're a CPC-IT, how long can you stay in training before the agency says enough is enough? I've heard of some being on the "five year plan" at all sorts of facilities. Is this common (or more common than it should be)?

    Re: Training Question

It's largely the same for a cpcit as it is for a dev. Typically a cpcit will be given fewer hours depending on experience ie. Tower to tracon would get more time than a tracon to tracon transfer.

    Re: Training Question

The hours are set by the training department, but there's all sorts of reasons why someone might get an extension. A CPC-IT might go to a TRB and get more hours, or take a hiatus for active duty military service, or get medically disqualified for long enough to reset their time on their last sectors, etc. It's a paradox - one naturally expects more of a CPC-IT earlier than a developmental who hasn't previously been a CPC, but they get much more leeway when they do have difficulty in training.
