How is it looking for CTI graduates?

I am a ATC student at Embry-Riddle and will be graduating in 2015. I was just curious about how its looking for us hiring wise. How long of a wait should I anticipate after graduation?

Any information would be of great help!

    Thank you

no one can predict hiring numbers that far out and as for the wait after graduation, it just depends on what states you pick, if they are hiring and if your name is pulled off the list.

Get a WQ score on the AT-SAT. You have tons of time to network too. Get on that ASAP!!!!

Good luck and keep striving for the best.

I graduated CTI dec 2010 and just got elected for interview. I still have 6 months to get a class date. I'm in IL and also put CA so it's a good 2 year wait and I only expect it to get longer as they years go on and the CTi program grows.

Re: How is it looking for CTI graduates?

As a Riddle grad myself...unless you (or your parents) got tons of $$$...LEAVE RIDDLE!!!

Go get a 2 year degree! I graduated in 09 and finally got selected in '11 and won't be going to okc til probably later this year.. Took 4 panels and yes my ATSAT score was a WQ.

But to answer your question...with the influx of applicants and the ever growing number of cti schools...I'd say it look bleak. I don't mean to sound like a 'downer' but I'm just telling you my experience (which btw happens to have been the experience of a number of my constituents who also graduated.)

Get yourself a backup plan buddy.

Thanks for the replies! I was curious what kind of "networking" you guys were talking about. Thanks!

*EDIT* Reword the question >.<, I wasn't asking what networking is, i was asking
what good ways there are to network?

Holy Jebus, do you need us to spoon feed this for you?

Networking means visiting facilities and meeting managers and getting your name out there.

As to what Aaronvtr was saying... I am also a ERAU grad and feel that you are paying unnecessary amount of money for the education you get there. I feel that ERAU graduates start out having a better advantage but totally not worth the price you pay to be there. I have a friend that went a 2 year path and I know more then he does easily. But if I knew everything that I do now, I would of went the 2 year path instead.

As for hiring in 2015, no one knows. Aaron is right that there are more and more cti schools, but on the other hand there are more atc vacancies in the coming years. I graduated last year and just received my interview date. A friend of mine graduated in December and has his interview this Friday. It varies greatly with what states you pick. The max I've heard is 2 years (4 panels) from my friends that graduated from ERAU.

Sorry for rambling though, hope this helped any.

Lol guys calm down. I knew what you guys meant by Networking. I guess I worded the question incorrectly. What I was wondering is what ways there are to network. I have thought about visiting local control towers and such, but is that easy to do? How do you arrange stuff like that; can you simply call the airport? lol

We knew what you meant...we just like to make people feel bad.

Ways to network...there are many but most people do just as you guessed...call the control facility. Ask who the supervisor, manager, or might be and begin brown nosing. Simple as that but just be mindful, these people have jobs to do so be direct and to the point. Hounding or beating around the bush can work to your detriment.

As a UND grad, and former ERAU student, I will agree with the other Riddle guys, the price you are paying isn't worth it IMO.
As for the networking, there are phone numbers in the facilities tab for (all?) the federal facilities, start dialing.
