Pool 1 vs Pool 2 selections can differ by law by no more than 10%. So 55%/45% split between the pools.

The people with the worst attitude at the Academy is the ones that go back for tower after having spent time at a Center. Although I've heard some other classes have been horrendous as well.

Thanks for for the information. Where can the statistics be found when available?

Re: CTI No Longer Receive Preferential Hiring

I'm in the middle of getting a CTI degree right now. Maybe as of now is doesn't help you get hired, but I think that'll change in a couple years. Also, I like to think if you do get picked up to go to the FAA Academy all the information CTI schools teach will help you get through a little easier. Correct me if I'm wrong...

The edge that comes from a CTI degree's course content ends right around the time that Basics does.

It's a degree, and if you decide to move jobs once inside the FAA, it will add points to your final total for ranking against competing bids. I don't think that it's worth spending three times what you would to obtain a general studies degree from a state university where you have residency.

I did one year at Community College for my gen eds and then transferred them to my state university getting my BS in Air Traffic Management from the Engineering school. It was not expensive at all. My friend got an aviation degree from the same Engineering school and got a very good engineering job at a well known company.

So my point is that everyone's situation is different as far as school costs, degrees and opportunities after obtaining a degree. I'm not suggesting anyone needs to attend a CTI program or doesn't need one. It's a personal choice.

I have a CTI school in the state I'm from so if I have to pay the same tuition it can't hurt me to get it.

If you live in Beaver County, PA the community college there has a CTI program. It's 5 semesters at $2900 per semester. Of course if you live out of county or state the tuition is more. That is very reasonable.

Texas State Technical College does the same thing but around $2000~ a semester. And some of their instructors teached at the Academy.

Things at the Academy have changed since they were instructors there.
