I took that 16 personality quiz and it came out I.S.T.J. although I can easily be extroverted when I want to and I tend to keep my introverted tendencies to myself. Despite the test results I feel like I could also be an I.N.T.J. as well though that sounds a lot like me too.

What's funny is on the website it says that only around 10 percent of the population is I.S.T.J. and only around 10 percent of the applicants passed the assessment (barring people who submitted the same answers as others).

I've done M-B tests several times in the past, always INTJ. Definitely not a type A personality. Answered BQ honestly. Not eligible.

Don't know if anyone posted this yet, but I looks as though ISTJ and ESTJ were the personalities with highest pass rates. Through the infamous screen too.
    Good find.

Did you respond to the test how you really felt or what you thought the F.A.A. wanted to hear?

There were a few questions that pertained to how introverted or extroverted you were and a lot of people assumed that the F.A.A. would want boisterous, extroverted, cocky applicants because that's what the general perception of controllers is.

I would think they would be looking for the exact opposite. Someone who is quiet, introverted, and gets their work done. This more describes me, and I am eligible.

Very well done. I was told by the head of my C.T.I. program when I first got there that in order to be a successful controller you would have to have some bravado and a little cock sureness to succeed. Not only that but even around here the feeling was that a majority of the controllers were aggressive, Type A personalities.

That's how I answered, the quiet respectable person. WAS going to answer different on the next bid, but I don't know now since you got through. I'm just going in with the mindset of a controller I guess. You have to be a confident person. Can't be unsure about anything

I replied as if I knew myself, not what a controller would want to hear. I've been told to go with gut instinct, so that's what I did, and passed. I do not have a type A personality and am certainly not aggressive. I am, however, assertive and I do not let others walk on me.

Here too. Definite ISTJ and I've been a controller for 13 years (God that sounds like a long time). I'm assertive at work though, you have to be in a lot of situations. Looking forward to taking this AT-SAT....

INTJ every time. I'm more aggressive than some, I suppose, and have often ended up heading small organizations and companies, especially in prehospital emergency medicine. Currently an ANG air traffic controller.

EDIT: I did read the paper from long ago looking at MBTI results and ability to succeed in ATC, and I believe INTJ was the third most successful of the types, with two others far more common in the field, and with only 3 real standouts anyway. Since INTJ is rare anyway, I think that it being one of the top three was probably a good sign.

I just took one of those personality tests for the first time, and it says I am BECAD.

I was considered "NOT eligible" based on the Bio-Q...

So basically they are looking for introverted, cocky, dominate, A type personalities.

i can see why men out number women in this field. What do you think the ratio of men to women is?

At my facility in the AF, of about 40ish people not including civilians, there was never more than 5 females at any given time, and usually it was closer to 3. Females also had a higher proportion of wash-outs, however I think this had more to do with them not having wanted (or even knowing what this job was) in the first place than ability. A lot of them self-eliminated by crying migraine or fear of controlling.

404 not found Ashley ... I don't know if being an introvert goes so well with also being cocky and dominant.

in a earlier post, you stated that someone told you they were looking for cocky and dominate people, which most men are by nature. When women are being cocky and dominate, they are considered a b*tch.
