I wonder how the current ATCs that have worked many years on the job and know of this botched biographical assessment will feel about working along side this new group of applicants? Especially knowing other well qualified friends and family members who did not get a fair chance. Do you think there may be a lack of respect towards the rookies coming on board?

Respect is earned, or at least I hope. They may disagree with the process but the ones out of this crop who do make it out of the academy and into the facility should have at least receive common courtesy and respect - if not out of sheer professionalism then out of respect for the safety of the N.A.S. Plus, a lot of facilities are in need of warm bodies - that translates into better days off, better shifts, more opportunities for vacation (albeit at the expense of O.T.).

I had no more experience than a lot of the people. No one at a facility will care how you got there once you've proved yourself capable. Until you check out there's a general lack of respect no matter how you were hired lol

For my first several years most people had just assumed I had been a CTI student, but really I was just an unemployed factory worker who was lucky enough to get selected OTS and put in the work to succeed.

I can't really speak on that second bit, I've heard it a lot though and I would hope that's not the case. I don't mind people with bravado as long as they can back up what they say.

As for my earlier post - I was told by the head of the C.T.I. program when I got in that the majority of air traffic controllers were cocky and you had to be very cocky to succeed in the job. That's the only place where I formed my opinion of the profession as I don't know too many other air traffic controllers, but a lot of people here seem to hold the opposite viewpoint.

I hope it's not worse than a CTI school....

I know this is from several years back but what a fascinating thread. I love to study personality theory so it is interesting to hear what everyone is. I am an INTJ also. I wonder if there is a correlation with Te and passing.
