    Boston Consolidated Tracon - A90

This is the place that is at the top of my list. I spent an hour or so there job shadowing a few years ago when I was still working towards a CTI degree. Anyone working there now or have any insights to share?

I'm just curious about how long it takes to CPC at A90.

Hey guys. Does anyone have anymore info about this facility? How long for CPC? What is the area and cost of living like in Merrimack?

The facility is brand new and really nice. CPC is about 12-18 months. The cost of living is in the medium to high end for rent. Average rent for a condo or townhouse runs about $1500.00 a month. No state taxes kinda helps out.

What about staffing? Are the near their limit or are they taking newbies?

They are not taking any newbies. They are only accepting one transfer for the year to the facility. This past year (2009) is the first time they have accepted anyone without prior ATC experience. If they start accepting any new hires again, it will not be until next year.

Yup, that's me! First day there will be June 7th. Aviator, looking forward to getting up there. I should be getting a training packet in the mail this week. If you see Bruce Hall tell him BJ from PBI said hello.

    Aviator:

Stuck Mic is being a pain for sending messages... tried replying to you like 8 times so if you have a message from me, my apologies...

My TOL has the TRACON specifically as my location. I was selected under the REINDOD posting from the FAA. I am currently a tower controller at Westover ARB, MA as a civilian. Was in the AF 8 years before getting medically discharged (very long story)! When I found out I was (tentatively) selected for BCT, I lost it! I am very happy to be going back to radar.

I guess the only thing I have on my mind as far as questions is the moving process of it all; how much or will I even have any time to get my family moved from where we are now up to Merrimack? We only live about 2 hours away so the move in itself will not be lengthy and if we need to stay in an Extended Stay for a couple of weeks while closing on a house, we can do it. Just curious as to the process in between OKC and BCT...

I know training is somewhere around 12-18 months for the BOS Sector. Im not sure about Manchester sector. Regardless, I am extremely stoked going back to radar and a busy facility at that!

Thanks for the PM response back. I really appreciate it! Hope to talk again soon!

The 64 hours are guaranteed. It states so in the red book.

Re: Boston Consolidated Tracon - A90

I am curious about A90. All the posts in this thread are at least a year old. How is the staffing? I am thinking about putting in an ERR in the next year or so. I am currently a CPC at CVG and was previously at D10 (DFW TRACON), so I have plenty of Radar experience. What are the chances of getting picked up here? A90 is one of those facilities that you just don't hear too much about, so I am thinking it is a pretty good place to work. My wife and I love the New England area and are really considering making the move.

Is there anyone who works here that I can PM with questions about working conditions? I am thinking about putting in ERR request
