How Long is the FAA Allowed to Take to Process a Pay Raise?

Hypothetical - you are a CPC and move to a higher level facility, where you train and are then checked out on all positions. How long is the FAA allowed to take to process your pay raise and start paying you at the higher rate?

Keep in mind that your TSP contributions are tied to your pay - so if there is a delay processing the raise, then you will potentially miss out on any increases as a result of stock market gains.

I'm sure there is a Department of Labor regulation somewhere but I'm not sure where to find it.

    Thanks!

I don't have a citation to hand, but if your final certification is processed before the T&A cutoff for the next pay period, it should go in the next pay period. If it happens after the T&A cutoff, then the one after.

    Right.

Point is, they are dorking around, maybe because of the holiday season. It has been 6 weeks and still nothing. Surely there is a legal time limit?

I doubt they can just say "we will get to it when we get to it".

I hit about 2 months with one of my raises. No idea what they were doing.

If you've got the tsp maxed or you user a dollar amount it's not really tied to your pay. Put the dollar amount and it'll take out whatever you want instead of the %

Think this is covered under Article 111 of the CBA. It should be effective the day after the event occurs.

Not the same scenario but reminds me of an issue I had.

When I went from D1 to D2 my raise was credited to someone else in my area, who was AG pay, that had the same first name as me.

No one caught it except me and I had to get it fixed myself. Eventually I got the back pay I was owed, and the other individual had the extra money they had received deducted from future paychecks.

unfortunately, the 5% that the faa matches is tied to your base pay, so even if you are maxing at 693 a pay period, 5% of 100k a year is more that 5% of 85k a year.

You will get back pay for dates from the day you checked out or the day after....This has happened to me numerous times. Then on that paycheck you do get all the time from the last few weeks or months, you get the matching off that amount and lose nothing. Longest I went without the raise was 51 days, and it was because it was over the holidays and new year.

There is nothing wrong with talking to the front office, someone may have forgot a form or something went wrong.

You're right, I wasn't even thinking about the Agency match.

As j_time said, you get back paid.

If you certify CPC on June 15th. You get the new pay starting June 16th. They could process the pay 60 days later, but they will back credit an extra amount to your TSP and calculate gains every 2 weeks. I believe it is called a "Late Contribution" you will then additionally get an "Earnings Adjustment" based on this extra contribution and how the market performed during that time period.

A delay in processing your raise does not cause you to miss out on any increases as a result of stock market gains.
