    ZOA...Who's with me?

Right...the airspace we use here at the academy is "Aero Center" (aka ZAE), which is based on an actually center sector in ZME, Jackson Low/66. I understand that the actual sector in real life is a lot more complex. I eval Monday and Tuesday (Oct 22nd and 23rd). My tips for the academy: 1)...

    Any advice for Enroute Radar?

This thread is in the wrong place (should be in the CTI section), but relevant nonetheless. The best advice I can give you for getting through the class is to sit down, shut up, and do work. Don't try to be "creative" or talk back to Mr. E. BTW, please tell him that that guy from Arizona says hi :)

    ZOA...Who's with me?

Are there any specific reasons why people keep on washing out? Is it airspace complexity, traffic workload, or something else? Any areas that produce more washouts than others?

    ZOA...Who's with me?

Hmmm this is a little concerning that these opinions about ZOA suddenly pop up; the only thing I have heard from people within ZOA and from other facilities is how great the facility is.

    ZOA...Who's with me?

I'm not shaba169 but a training dept. person at ZOA told me to have lots and lots of "energy". I'm sure a great attitude helps too!

Hey I totally agree, though I think uwcollegedude has a class date about a week before me (my class date is July 20th) - not sure if that would matter much study group wise or not.

    ZOA...Who's with me?

According to my contact at ZOA, converting the training from Raytheon to FAA reduced the washout rate from something like 40% to IIRC 20%. A huge improvement, IMO. Although, according to the FAA, ZOA is a level 11 facility, so in theory it shouldn't be more difficult than level 12 facilities...

Hmm not sure if that is a good or a bad thing that most of the wash outs were at iso....I think the most important thing is that a study group/location is established (whether at iso, kim's, or some other place). I'm not sure on the circumstances of the washouts. I forget, where did you go to...

    07/20/12 - Enroute

And earlier today I pulled the trigger and decided to stay at Isola Bella, primarily for the food. I spoke with some people at ZOA yesterday, and they all seemed to recommend it.
