    Click "ATC Facilities," pick one, call 'em up! Prepare questions, tell them who you are and your intentions.
    Inquire about their staffing needs, etc. Pick another facility and repeat.

    I couldn't resist responding. Contacting facilities on a regular basis will take you far, as long as you avoid being annoying. Your chances of being picked up at a facility are increased if people there actually associate your name with a voice...and face if you hit the road and visit. Worked for me, first panel.

    Alright, thanks for the help. If you ever have any questions let me know, I might be able to help since I personally know 4 controllers. One of them has been my mentor ever since I enrolled at Vaughn, the 3 others were my professors, I keep in touch with them. I spoke to my mentor two days ago, he told me a lot of places down south are under staffed, North/south carolina, Georgia, thats all I remember. Do you think calling them from time to time would speed up my application?

    Haha... my post count just means I spend too much time here.

    For facility staffing, I'd suggest looking at the latest 10 Year Strategy, since they posted numbers as of September in the back of it this time. They'll still be pretty similar to that. http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/controller_staffing/media/CWP_2010.pdf.

    For phone numbers, use the Facility Locator here on Stuck Mic. Right up top, underneath your username as "ATC Facilities".

    It's really hard to predict which places are best these days, because everybody's saturated with trainees. Alaska is a good bet, since it's less popular, but beyond that... it's really a gamble. Oh, and take the staffing numbers in the back of that report with a grain of salt... they're inflated.

    if you go into the ASAP site and look at the hiring notice that you applied for, it will be a ways down under who to contact.

    I have no idea. I know I've been waiting quite a while....don't quit your day job! It will def be worth the wait. You just have to realize that it's going to be a long wait. They were talking shortages when I applied and now I can't get an academy date. I'm just happy to have a TOL at this point. I think once you get that you are ok.
