Well, you had a plan. It sucked, but at least you're thinking...I think.

I will be starting back up as soon as possible now, I only hope I have retained all the info from stage I so I can just get back to stage II but we will see...

You people are just sick, dont you know if youre gonna catch anything at least make it something treatable, I know the Thai massage parlours are tempting but at least spend a little money.... Jeez, this is what our skies have to look forward to

    Re: GA pilots?

hey guys, Im new here at SM but you can add me to your GA pilot group. I, like most of the rest of you, have no money to fly. Totally sucks. I'm in the norfolk, va area and it aint cheap. I'm still on the fence about getting my CFI, however, I am pubnat 7 so I have plenty of time to figure it out. I am really hoping for this ATC venture to work out. I have always been interested in aviation and if I can't get a job flying then I would like to at least get to tell the pilots what to do. He He.

do it if you can...very rewarding when you get good students, it does get boring at times but all you have to do is ask and generally they'll be happy to let you play for a bit. you'll be suprised how much you'll learn...

and not to mention its always a fall back. and if you ever buy an airplane your insurance will be way cheap

Actually with a CFII your insurance is dirt chep as long as you dont allow students to train in it :diggin:

It's boring right up until you get into the pattern and they try and kill you fifty different ways. Then it gets a little more exciting.

For any of you guys in OKC, there is an outfit down in Chickasha that has halfway decent rates on rentals. $119/hr wet for a '75 172 with a Garmin 430W. Interior of this airplane has seen better days, but it flies well. I have a little over 4 hours in the 172 there now. Some kind of IFR GPS was necessary since the NDB at the field has been shut down for a couple of years and there is no localizer or ILS available there.

They also have a couple of 150s for $79/hr and an Ercoupe for $69/hr.

$119 for a 172? I wasn't paying that shit when gas was 6.50/gallon.... Here in wonderful Colorado, I can get a brand new SP with G1000 for $120/hr....

Hell, I rent my Baron out for $165... Hardly worth 40 less to get a single.

General Aviation -- the most expensive way between point A and point B.

My Diamond costs $97 an hour wet. Pretty reasonable deal.

    I know, I know....

Everything else around here is expensive as hell. $150/hr+ for a 172R/S.

Back home it is about $20/hr cheaper for the same a/c. There's just no competition around here and it shows.

I'd tell them to stick that where the sun doesn't shine. I thought $79/hr for one was bad...when I earned my PPL they were just a tad over $50/hr.
