    HUF- Terre Haute Hulman Field

One of my classmates went there. Like StuSel said, low cost of living, good location and it seems like they have good people I think CTO times are about 8 months. You'll be getting there as the busy season is winding down for VFR traffic. They have a federal prison there so they do prison...

Bluegrass Airport, Lexington, KY - LEX

If you are hired under the OTS bid you will attend the schoolhouse at OKC. If you are under the prior exp bid you will go directly to your facility.

    FAA New Max Age

From Trish Gilbert's FB page: Initially there was a date of July 18 circulated as an ATC hiring announcement/bid. That will likely now be the end of July or first week of August. When it is open we will circulate it far and wide.

    Honolulu HCF/Hawaii FAA

your tour guide didn't lie, that's the way it works there. This kid doesn't know what he's talking about...probably not even in the agency.

    Honolulu HCF/Hawaii FAA

That's funny b/c a person in my RTF class (Feb '16) was from HCF, rated in the tower and going through RTF.

    Lasik rocks

One week post op and I'm seeing 20/10 😊

    Lasik rocks

Probably the type and location. Here was the breakdown of prices at Vance Thompson: PRK $3700, LASIK $4700, Custom LASIK $5700. For me this included all medicine (steroidal/antibiotic eye drops for two weeks) and my post op checkups for 2 years. Plus I'm sure I paid a little bit for the name...

    Lasik rocks

For me it as the day after, then in one week, then one month, six months, one year and then yearly after that :) I was terrified too bc of the same thoughts. I nearly called the day before to cancel. It was flawless though

    Lasik rocks

I have probably been over zealous on putting drops in just to make sure there is plenty of moisture. I went to lunch with my friend that drove me and started laughing when we were standing in line b/c I could read the menu. It is definitely a procedure I would recommend, the only uncomfortable...

    Lasik rocks

Anyone who does their research and has worn glasses/contacts for years knows that reading glasses and the correction eye surgery does are two different things. I've heard from a few people that had PRK done while in the military that they're back in glasses (and it's only been 7 or 8 years)...

    Lasik rocks

They said that I MAY need readers as I age (I'm 33) but most people need those as they get older. As far as the rest of the vision I should be good for at least 20 years. I talked to a lady who had lasik 20 years ago and she needs glasses now for minor corrections. Her vision was 20/400 before...

    Lasik rocks

Had LASIK done yesterday and my first Post Op appointment this morning. 20/20 vision and I'm good to go back to work on Saturday. I had Custom Wavefront LASIK due to some tests showing I would probably have issues with halos/glare if I went with just the standard procedure. I used Vance Thompson...

    Good Bases for AT ATC

Each base will have something to teach you. I started off at Ellsworth (B1's) and while it was slow, you have plenty of time to learn the bookwork. Also the wake turbulence separation, which I saw people who came from busy facilities struggle with understanding wake turbulence. However, you have...

Anyone See the FAA's Video for N90?

I was OTS bid and got a 5 out of the academy, my friends that applied on the prior experience bid, from the bases I was stationed at, are all getting 8's and 9's. While I have seniority on them, they're making quite a bit more than me.....

DOD to FAA Save Pay Changes

I would have had to take 160+ hours of leave. Glad to have it transfer with me as well as the 130+ hour of sick leave :) and then I'll be on my way with the 8 hours of leave per pay period this summer. Glad for all of that :)

DOD to FAA Save Pay Changes

I wish I would have known that! It was hell getting everything done in 3 days....but I'm glad I asked b/c HR would not have been forthcoming with that info had I NOT asked.
