Rumor has it the next open bid will be NOV15 has anyone else heard this?
No and I have a hard time believing it unless it's a prior experience bid. Not saying you're wrong but it doesn't make sense to me since from the last bid they have projected start dates all the way into 2017.

lol thank you I didn't know there was much of a heads up for the bids..
I could see a prior experience bid for mostly (if not all) terminal starting up soon. From what I've seen from friends and post on here, October 2016 and beyond projected class dates were all en route. So it would make sense they would have a prior experience to fill in all the terminal hiring they would need.

But you are correct, rumors are a dime a dozen and you'll see this forum blow up when the next hiring for OTS (or CTI if that ever happens again, not likely) has been announced.

There was a hint at this in the daily FAA email stating prior experience bids were probably going to happen annually generally around the Oct/Nov timeframe, so that's probably where this rumor came from. Who knows if there's any merit to it. It was a feel good article about the hiring process.

after further investigation I found it was a email received from a friend. I believe I misinterpreted the rumor and thought it was a open bid I can apply to either so it makes no difference to me. He said the email metioned something about the FAA conducting job fairs a month ago and it was his thought process that brought him to thinking a bid would be out soon. Thank you all for your input. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated if I hear anything as well.

Just setup a saved search on USAJobs... they'll email you when something posts matching your saved search.

Thank you I didn't even think to look for that. I know it seems I'm stressing over seeing it, but I'm just excited for a chance to do my dream job.

That's entirely possible. If it takes 6 months to make it to selections being made, they will have February 2017 academy dates.

Heard from a friend working at a facility that he received an email from his training manager that the bid for priors will be January 2016 and the bids for no prior will be June 2016.
You think info like that would just be tossed out? I mean I would def be excited if it came true

Re: Any Word on the Next Announcement?

I have a few questions. Does anyone know if they will ever give a age waiver for an experienced military controller that did not retire and does not meet the age requirement? Also, does anyone have suggestions of jobs that experienced ATC can do outside of ATC and/or FAA? I'm trying to find a job using my ATC experience but do not know what type of jobs to look for.

To answer your question, it is my opinion that, no, the FAA will not issue age waivers. Quite simply, they have more applicants not needing waivers than they do positions available. If you were not aware, Congress changed the age for experienced controllers from 31 to 35. Are you older than 35? If so, you still have options if you have a CTO. Contract Towers are looking for folks and the DoD will be looking for folks since quite a few DoD civilians will be leaving for the FAA.

Railroad dispatchers make quite a bit of money. Its not the same.. but it pays the bills. Pretty much anything ops in the railroad industry pays pretty great

Hello: new to the site here. Does anybody know of upcoming bid announcements for 2017? I'm looking to get an application in and started as my age/time are my enemies, at this point. Thanks in advance.

p.s. I already have a USA Jobs account and saved searches for "Air Traffic Control Specialist" and "Air Traffic Control Specialist Trainee", as my ultimate goal is to get hired through a bid and head to OKC for training as an entry-level applicant off the street. I have a 4-year degree and 4+ years of full-time progressive work experience.
