i got an email telling me I qualified to apply under the age waiver, did anyone else? Not sure how to answer the 2 age questions though. Anyone know who is hiring since you can't pick states this time? Thanks.

Just found my email in my spam box. I was wondering how many of us there are. I am not able to apply for the current experienced bid, but will be on the lookout for the March one. Did you apply for this one?

I did! 6 years military, so I'm hoping to get accepted. It's a little scary that there is no location preference allowed on this one and its a direct hire...although, hopefully that means their desperate and hiring quick!

I got the email saying I could apply (just turned 31 last week), but I'm curious if anyone knows if it matters if you declined a position or not?

I did, first applied in the August 2012 CTI bid that was thrown out after the whole sequestration mess. I'm real excited but apprehensive to still have to get past this new Bio-Q, obviously I failed the Feb 2014 one. I really want this to happen this time...

If you took the Bio-Q last year, youll realize that it has no relevance really to ATC. Just more of a personality test. I believe you can expect a similar test this round.

FYI - There was an announcement that came out today. To my understanding, this one is not the normal OTS bid that is supposed to open in March per the job description:

Serve as an Air Traffic Control Specialist who applies experience with and knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic control operation and procedure and skill in aviation operation, technical training, safety analysis and risk management to serve as a technical advisor to facilitate the development, implementation and tracking of technical training and Independent Review Panel (IRP) improvement initiative. This work is critical to and directly impact the safe and efficient operation of the National Airspace System (NAS) and is a core business initiative.

Correct. That is a DC staff job. Read the qualifications required:

To qualify for this position at the FV-I level, all applicants must demonstrate one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/FG-12) or pay band level (FV-H) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience in a military or civilian air traffic facility that has demonstrated possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the level of work of the specialization for the position for which application is made. This experience must have provided the applicant with a comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules, and regulations. Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their Work History.
Examples of specialized experience for this position are:
1. Experience as a Pilot.
2. Experience evaluating Air Traffic Controller training and personnel data.
3. Experience in aviation operations, technical training, safety analysis, risk management and/or communications.

So a buddy of mine sent me this link ( WOIO ) and says that, as of yesterday, there would be an open posting. I have no prior experience and and am about to graduate this May with an Aviation Management/Aerospace Security double major but am highly interested in an ATC job. However, I could find only the posting on USAjobs that requires the 52 weeks experience. Anyone have any insight into this? I would appreciate it! Thanks.

NOTE-If you do not have a minimum of 52 weeks of certified air traffic control experience you will NOT qualify under this announcement. We hope you will instead consider applying for an announcement for entry-level ATCS trainees currently scheduled to be issued in March 2015.

Reading comprehension is a key requirement in order to become an ATC'er. BTW, the link you posted was from last year.
