Anyone know exactly when you earn your 2152? I think after you get to academy graduate (AG) that you earn your 2152. Anyone know what document supports this claim.

My question specifically involves a guy I work with. He's 30 right now. Was initially hired as a controller, graduated the academy as a tower controller, but then washed out in local training. He's 30 now and employed as an ATA but has been applying to get rehired. I believe even if he turns 31 he is still eligible because he got his initial 2152 before he was 31 and even if he doesn't get hired (or get a TOL) until he's 33 he will still be eligible.

I'm looking for evidence that he has a 2152 even though he washed out previously before reaching CPC. Any thoughts?

Thanks all!

If the FAA uses the same personnel paperwork as the DoD, he should have an SF-50 (notice of Personnel Action) that says he was a 2152 from when he got hired.

He was already a 2152 and can be rehired. I know someone in the same situation, older than 31 and still eligible for employment with the FAA with an SF-50.

Unless he is prior military or holds a CTI he won't be able to get back anyway. From what I'm told, it will be years before another ots announcement and there hasn't been a developmental reinstatement announcement for a long time. I resigned as a developmental and have been on the outside looking in for 2 years!

This is true - eligible but no bid to reapply. Fat chance on any OTS as between military cutbacks and continuing CTI grads - the hiring pool is prob over 6000 again.

Here is a question.. Your VRA, TOL at age 30. By the time you class date starts you are now 31. You fail the academy.

Can you apply the next VRA announcement? Because you now have 2152 and your age was locked at 30?

If a TOL locks your age, then technically you should be able to, no? Tricky question..

I don't think it has anything to do with the Academy, I think it's all about the TOL. Once that's in, you're good.

Regardless of hiring source.

But your TOL its gone because you got hired and went to the academy, the important document is the 2152 title cause then there is no age limit..

Interesting!

i'm starting to think the SF50 locks you in.

you get an SF50 when you're promoted. the red book defines a promotion as:

1. movement from Academy completion into the first developmental stage.
2. movement from the final developmental stage into the CPC position.
3. movement from the CPC position to an MSS-2 or higher position.

for each position you get an SF-50 cut. so i'm starting to think that an AG gets an SF-50 and is able to prove their 2152.

thanks all!! i think we figured it out. i appreciate it.
