Specifically, it's here. But I'd encourage visiting the blog... I hadn't seen this one before and the guy's a pretty good writer. Thanks, BZ.

Definitely a great blog... If you start from the beginning he goes from the Academy to currently training at his facility. Its a very easy read and definitely interesting. The guy has a gift.

ah, now it makes sense...
Who does that? honestly?
I would assume that it is oriented in relation to the control tower. If you look at it from that perspective, the map is a layout of what you would see while controlling traffic.

At first it appears ridiculous, but it's just like turning a map when I am flying so that it's oriented correctly. When I'm flying south, it wouldn't make sense to hold the map with north pointing ahead of me. It's the same logic here.

That makes sense. when you put it that way, its ok. But if they had just did it just for shitz n giggles, then no.
But I like that idea, we'll go with that, unless someone can confirm otherwise........

What's even more entertaining is that the DBRITE is oriented with north being at the top. So when you try to visually ID traffic that's southwest on your DBRITE, you have to look "northeast" outside the tower cab.

The best part is the reporting fix for the 28s is woody...so in table tops its;

Academy Tower, United 7 heavy reporting over woody.

I'm assuming this is still the current airport layout.

Anyone able to furnish...
Feet remaining/available from each intersection?
Airport elevation?
Tower, Ground, ATIS, Departure frequencies?
Runway length, width and heading?
Taxiway widths and weight bearing capabilities?
ILS frequencies and identifiers?

Or is some of this irrelevant for Academy sim purposes?

You will get a more detailed map at the academy with feet remaining/available. You will also get a map of the airspace. They will give you all of the other information you need. If you know the taxiways and runways you will be more than prepared.
