The situation was for someone with more money than sense. I think 50k wouldn't​ amount to a hill of beans for that person.

Well, the point about "having more money" was not because they had "less sense" (after all, they do have more money... :D ), but it was to demonstrate why they wouldn't care about not having enough time to complete the service requirements for full retirement benefits (pension, etc. etc.). They just want to do the work, for however long they're able to, simply because they enjoy the work.

That said, $50K seems a bit prohibitive, even for someone with "more money than sense."

You get an FAA CTO from the program NE is talking about. After getting some experience under your belt, you could work at a contract tower, but due to your age, the FAA would not be an option.
