Well, you said you'd been in stage two of training for six weeks, so I assumed there was a first stage of training you completed at ZTL before that, hence why I asked when you finished. Add to that these all these "experienced" guys saying it'll be a cold day in hell before ZTL shows up again, yet clearly that cold day was just six weeks ago. That's why I was hoping someone from ZTL would answer. So, thanks.

First stage in training is the academy. You seem to have a really hard time grasping how to properly read the priority placement tool, terminal placement list, and enroute placement list. Not to mention you're sitting on a terminal TOL and the current staffing at ZTL has absolutely zero effect on you as you would be years away from being able to put in an ERR to get there. Past practice does not equal future practice. He/she snuck in to ZTL 6 weeks ago. 5 weeks ago, ZTL filled all 16 of their available spots with current CPC's on the NCEPT panel. Past outlook does not equal future outlook.

Wait, all this was from someone with a terminal TOL...?
To be fair the original question was from a guy heading to the academy for enroute in august. Enroute placement list on .65 isn't up to date, doesn't show the 16 people selected for ZTL on the past NCEPT panel. Sailor_pianist, as she's done for the past year, chimes in on every Atlanta thread for details despite holding a terminal TOL.

I went to ZTL to do my MMPI last week. They told me as long as I did good at the academy, I could come there. They are down about 20% in staffing so I'm sure the 16 or whatever they just got didn't help with that void that much. I can contact the controllers I know that work there and see what they say so it'll come from someone directly there. I want to go there as well.

That's not even remotely close to how this process works. All the facility staffing data is available on pointsixtyfive. The only number that matters in terms of the academy is projected staffing. ZTL is over 90% after getting 16 CPC's last month. Next time I'm at work I can get the actual number. Last time I checked ZTL didn't have a single spot in the next 195 available for academy grads.

Quit killing their hopes and dreams SA3! Let them see the FAA way towards the end of the academy.

Lol, I actually had that same thought while I was typing. I feel like I'm just constantly telling people Santa Claus doesn't exist.

Going to the August 8th enroute class with a projected graduation of December 7th. Assuming all goes well, I'd really like to go to ZTL if it's on the list.

How is staffing looking right now?
To give you better info today, a lot has gone in your favor. ZTL double counted the 16 CPCs they picked up on the late June PPT. They corrected the issue on the July PPT that came out today. They are also using the correct facility success rate for each individual facility which caused the projected nationwide average to jump up to 92.8%. ZTL's training success rate went down which means they need more trainees to hit the national average. As it currently stands, they need an additional 18 trainees to hit the national average and have 19 spots in the top 200. Keep an eye out for the September NCEPT panel (ZTL can pick up 18 CPCs). Depending on how that goes, you will graduate the academy before the December NCEPT hits. The way it stands now, ZTL should be on almost every academy list starting around September.

I reckon this is good news for him then. I know how the government works, I work for the government now and know I can be moved anytime they see fit to wherever they see fit.

Interesting how facts change so quickly.

Thanks for the info. I'll just have to do the best I can at the academy and hope I get lucky with my choices in December.

You'll have a better grasp of your odds once the September NCEPT panel meets (current CPC's transferring). There is a chance they don't allow them to take 18 people. They're already backlogged with inbounds and last panel they didn't select all available ERRs to 4 facilities for fear of overwhelming their training departments. I'll update this once that panel convenes. Good luck man, it's a great facility, has a fantastic training department, and cheap cost of living.

Uhh according to the latest PPT, which was just run yesterday, ZTL can release 1 person rather than select anyone this go around.

You're looking at the June PPT. The July PPT dated 7-27-2017 shows a projected average of 88.6% for ZTL, 18 in possible gains to meet the national average, which as you know results in 0 people eligible for release.
