I am considering taking the dispatching exam as a potential ATC fallback, but have been a little bit unnerved by the study guide. It's surely a crazy amount of questions, many of them similarly worded with different questions, etc. It baffles me how they expect people to study and memorize all the questions, then pick less than 10% to ask on the exam itself. Anyhow, I noticed in a few older threads in the forum that the pass rate is decent (~77%) and the average score isn't terrible impressive. So, here's the question --

If one to were to perform poorly or outright fail the dispatch exam, would that test score be stuck on your record and possibly be considered when waiting for admission the academy?

The license would be a nice extra to have, but I'm not willing to put an ATC career in possibly jeopardy by not performing well on the test.

I believe it only says whether you have it or not. I highly doubt they care about seeing a failed test score that doesn't pertain to atc.

Hello everyone! havent been on here for awhile...

A dispatch license is a great backup plan. I attended Sheffield (highly reputable school), they gave me a list of 500 of the most commonly used questions; which I memorized and did quite well on the ADX exam.
Your test score will not jeopardize your career in ATC.

Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions

Could you tell me little bit about the aircraft dispatcher practical test? What do they ask, how much hard is it? Thank you!

Sunny, head over to forums.jetcareers.com and research through the Flight Control/Dispatcher section. Should have all the info you need and more in regards to dispatch.

I took it, so I guess I can shed some light. For the people in our class, the dispatch practical lasted about 4-6 hours each, so prepare for taking half the day. The examiner had us do a couple of flight plans in the worst weather imaginable with altitude restricting MELs, closed runways, etc.... Be prepared to use all the information you know to successfully plan the flight and pass. They will also ask several knowledge questions and "what-if" scenarios. You can count on about half of your time interacting with the examiner and about half of your time researching/planning your route, looking up MELs, performance data, etc.

Almost everyone in my class passed the first time, with only one person having to do a retake. Good luck, one of the best things about the Dispatch license, is that once you have it, you have it. No currency requirements at all.

Dude, why don't you think about passing Cisco. It is a very valuable certification. With it you can expect to work in very respectable IT companies. I understand that it seems very difficult, but there are a lot of tutors and specialized schools which can help you to pass it. For example, when I decided to achieve it, my friend recommended me https://www.spotoclub.com/ . And now, working in Silicon valley I am very thankful for it, because their team really help me to pass this pretty hard exam
