So now that the contract has been ratified will that affect the dress code for the academy...I really don't want to buy clothes just for the academy

The academy will remain business casual. So start shopping. TJ Maxx and Ross are awesome.

godjesus howboutyoureadthefirst3pagesofthisthread?
you mean the bull shit about the idiots wearing mullets and other stuff...I know the academy isn't covered under the NATCA agreement...however it would make sense for them to go back to the way it was pre-IWR(I can also understand the academey remaining business casual as it is a class room environment)...I saw the results of the ratification and just wondered if there was any news. I don't have much use for this site any longer since that was the last bit of information I was curious about, just like the other 99.9% of people I won't be here after I start work!

You mean like this?

The dress code, for the Academy's intents and purposes, is NOT changing. You can debate the legalities of the contract and its applicability, but the Student Admin staff have made it clear that the contract doesn't really affect us and has specifically said the dress code will not change.
Dude it was right at the top of the page, before the mullet talk...how'd you miss it?!?

Best part is I get to quote myself...yay...I should go get me one a them realtree FAA hats...and a tux-ee-do t-shirt...

btw there have been a bunch of classes in my building at the Academy wearing jeans, but they're definitely not OTS students. So I don't think the 'business casual' rule applies to all.

The only thing you will get from NATCA at the Meet and Greet is an application for UNION DUES !

From my understanding, you aren't actually a member of the bargaining unit until you report to your facility. Thus, the new contract has no effect on initial hires at the Academy. I've had someone tell me that this isn't true, but given that there is no NATCA presence here at the Academy, I find it hard to believe that we could be eligible for the union when we have no way to get info on it here. The only way to get info on Natca here in OKC is to go to the Meet and Greets, which are held at local restaurants/hotels. There's one coming up next week, so I'll ask someone from Natca for clarification.

I am currently at the Academy for RTF and the dress code is as written in the new contract... NEAT AND CLEAN... I wore jeans and a hooded sweatshirt today and it was not an issue!

In any case, someone in my Basics class asked the Academy supervisor about this, and he was told that the dress code will not be changing.
I heard that once you make Facility pay (start RTF class) that we can dress down. Today we wore the normal clothed just in case but tomorrow we are going to wear jeans.

My class was told at about 1pm today by the training supervisor they are still not sure whether RTF students are considered bargaining units. They are looking into it and will let us know. He told us everyone who wore jeans today were already bargaining unit members, back for RTF training (as they have already checked out in the tower sections of their facility). From the sounds of it, it will only be a matter of days before its official that we can. As for wearing jeans to class tomorrow? I will pass on that until I get the official word.

Eww - please no banana hammocks.. I am getting to the point where I either need to start buying "casual" wear for the Academy or say screw it. So any info on this is both needed and appreciated. Don't want to guy a bunch of clothes I'm not going to need.. I'd rather spend it on Beer and Porn, thankyouverymuch.
