I'm headed to ZSE too, and pretty psched about it! I toured the facility a while ago and sat on the floor for a bit. The building itself is kind of dated and old, but still not too bad. One of my best friends ( PUBNAT 1'er) is recently back from OKC and in training at ZSE. He is doing well, and says that everyone is very encouraging. I am glad I now know where I am going, but it is still going to be a long wait.

Wasn't Seattle your dream location? Good for you!
Yeah, its so odd. I really wanted to put down WA in my prefs, but we decided it wasnt the best economic decision. (No family, higher cost of living, no job for the other half, etc) I was so bummed to give up my dream of living in Seattle. It looks like the big guy upstairs was looking out for me!!

Going to ZSE per my e-mail this morning. Finally!

I too visited last year and it seemed like a great place. My family and friends are all in Seattle so the wait has been worth it.

Good luck with your interview/paperwork guys! I look forward to training with you.

GW

I'm excited to finally know where I will be working. I'm hoping we will start Oak City in October with the beginning of the new FY. I've been told that it won't be any earlier than that. I've been down to the facility a couple of times and I like it. The people there have always been friendly. It seems like it will be a great place to work.

I'm off to enjoy the great northwest sunshine.

A little off topic but is it true terminal applicants fill out an sf85 form and enroute an sf86?

I did a tour there a while back when I first started with the FAA. Pretty cool facility, but once I toured seattle tower, I knew exactly what kind of facility I wanted to go to, no question :)

I know working in a center does require a Secret clearance, and I'm pretty sure terminal employees only need a Confidential clearance. Not sure if that would account for different sf85/6 forms to be filled out though. Obviously the Secret clearance requires a much more thorough background check.

Headed up there too. Looks like ZSE was the first choice for a lot of us, myself included, so... hooray. Hey, when we all get up there, we'll go to that Indian casino across the street and celebrate.

I, meanwhile, DID put WA in my geo prefs and got nothing...the FAA is a strange beast.
Yeah, that's what happened to me for 3/4. Turned out that ZSE wasn't given any openings at the time and I was passed over for the few terminal spots that were there. Like you said in another thread... networking can play a big role. They also like to pick from a local crowd when they can, so Colorado wasn't doing you any favors (same goes for Texas for me last time around).

That's correct.

I'm in Rossta! Muckleshoot here we come! Just curious-what made ZSE your first choice? I see you are in TX now, are you from WA originally?

Nah, I grew up in Denver. I'm not sure exactly what made ZSE my first choice, honestly. My wife and I have always liked Seattle, we've got friends and family up there, we want to live somewhere different from Texas for a while, we really liked the people we met at the Center there... take your pick, I guess.

It'll be nice to know other developmentals before we even get there -- been meaning to start asking around, find out if people headed to the same facility tend to get sent to OKC at the same time.

First post on Stuck Mic!!!

Im headed to ZSE as well and look forward to working with all of you. Toured the facility and everyone there is great and very helpful. Im OTS as well and live in the area, so it was great to be picked up locally. Wondering if anyone else has been contacted to schedule their interviews. I haven't yet, so just wondering where I should be looking- email or ASAP? Any info would be great!

Post Virginity Gone!! Welcome to the group. Out of the rumored 20 people selected to go to ZSE from the April09 panels you are now the 8th to check in here on Stuckmic. A quick list for shits and giggles: Rosstafari, Niagra19, CirrusDriver, TrevMan22, Rostato, pilotboywa, garretwilk, and now hartley424. I dont think out of this group anyone has heard back about setting up an interview yet. Since we were the last ones to get emails I would assume (I know I know bad idea) that we were probably the last ones sent out for scheduling and thus may be the last ones to hear anything. I would love to pick your brain about the Seattle area.

Congrats!

The nice lady I spoke with from my e-mail told me that someone would call to setup the interview. They are letting me interview locally here in Minneapolis for the Seattle job. Sure enough last Tuesday (6/9) an HR person with ZMP (Minneapolis Center) called to schedule the interview. I will be going in this Tuesday (6/16).

Rock and Roll!
